I've been wondering, Scorched.

[ Arthur has been training since before the sun rose: it's visible in the flush across the bridge of his nose, the way his blond bangs are sticking dark to his temples, the slouch of his usually straight-backed posture. But he needs a break, a distraction from his own mind, from the questions that have been plaguing it without concrete answer. ]

Say that the Door started — temporarily — working the way that all doors should, and we could all trip merrily back to our own worlds.

[ A breath, considering whether he's really going to ask. Despite his slightly laconic tone, he knows how depressing some of the answers he'll get will be. But he still wants to know: ]

Would you stay here in Anatole?

Or would you go home?

I would like to say we decide that for ourselves, but if I wanted to be impartial? I would say it is already decided, although I could not say by whom.

We all come from different worlds, and those of us from the same worlds often come from different periods in time. These variations in time would not exist if we were meant to be here, if this Anatole is our future.

Why not? If we all come from different worlds, who's to say my Camelot isn't different from, say, Morgana's, several years before?

Do you exist in her Camelot? Have you ever existed?

I don't feel that anyone still living in their world has a rightful place here. Which isn't to say they shouldn't be allowed to spend time here if they've already found themselves abducted. Remaining here, however? It seems a bit unfair to me, a bit selfish...and while I am all for doing things for oneself, there does come a time when we must be men and women and not children, yes?

[Tyrion's shoulders rise and fall in a shrug.]

Mine is but one opinion among many, however. You did ask, and so I am answering.

I would return for certain...but I would want to leave only when I was ready, and on my terms.

Not me as I am now, perhaps, but... a version of me. I've seen people leave this place and return with no memories of their time here, sometimes with wholly different experiences to the people I knew before.

[ Arthur pulls a face. ]

It hurts my head to think about, really. I'm here for the foreseeable future, as are you, and I doubt either of us will have a choice as to when that stops being true.
