Okay, not really sure if this is a shot in the dark or not, but does anyone have access to more modern psychology books? The local library is kind of lacking in that regard.

[ Lili waves an much, much older psychology book back and forth for emphasis before dropping it back on her bed.] So I figured I'd ask here and see if that got me any further.

If you do- tell me, I kind of want to brush up on the finer points of non-Freudian psychology, I'd rather not rely on that quack for information. [Lili rolls her eyes at the thought.] so- thanks I guess? Depending on how far this gets me.

So who are you a fan of, if not Freud?

Fan would be a bit generous of a term to be honest. I'm no fan of anyone. I just want to know more about anyone who isn't Mr. 'You have a mother complex'.

Simplifying it. They all have their own value and truth to them. Even Freud.

If Freud wasn't so sexist, maybe, maaaybe I'd be more positive towards him. [Lili dryly offers back.] I know he has some truth hidden in his work, I'm not completely naive to it. I read some stuff he did, I wanted a basis before I started asking around. Even if it's a small one.

Freud was certainly a product of his time, an unfortunate one, but one nonetheless. There's possibly some Jung, but we know that some of his theories started similar to Freud's own.

They're both interesting to read, just, problematic in places. Which sucks since I'd like modern psychology to read over without having to pause and sigh a little.

They're brilliant men, even with what they did wrong. They did a lot for psychology.

I definitely give them that, we wouldn't have had a lot of our basic building blocks without them. Doesn't mean I won't make fun of them though.

Well I think it sounds positively dull.

Why? The human mind is a interesting complex thing rattling around in your skull. Knowing about it is a good way to know more about yourself.

[Lili crosses her arms over her chest just squinting back.] I somehow doubt 'proving' it or trying to justify it is going to really change your mind.

Why do you want to read up on psychology?

Because I want to know the core of what being a Psychonaut is about. Even if I can't be an official one, I'm going to be one in spirit.

I have no idea what that means. I recommend not using jargon, if you can help it.

Right. [She blows out a sigh.] A psychonaut is someone whose job is based on people's minds. So knowing the human mind is fundamental knowledge.

What about people's minds, though? [he huffs. This is vague.] Obviously knowing it would be fundamental, but that doesn't really answer the question.

It's fundamental because Psychonauts are in the business of helping people sort through their minds. We help people conquer their demons, clean up their cobwebs and sort their emotional baggage. [Lili answers simply back. On her part unintentionally quoting from her old camp counselor's pamphlet.]

I need to read up on psychology so I know what I'm looking for in regards to people's minds.

Look for the bright sign marked 'insanity here'. It might blink. But I assure you, it'll be glaringly obvious, and you don't need a book for that.

[Lili rolls her eyes in turn.] Every mind is structured differently to attune to a person's personality and life. Normalcy is different in every mind. Only a few things are universally a sign of insanity of mania's.

A psychology book isn't going to help you, then. Not if everyone's mind is different.
