001 | accidental video
[The view on the feed is an accidental one to say the least. It's constantly shifting and moving, due to the fact that Astrid has tucked the Forge away against her belt, partially obscuring the video and giving the rest of it a charming view of the large scaly blue leg of the dragon walking beside her.
Someone clearly didn't stay inside those outworlders' quarters for long.
The dragon lets out the occasional low chatter, and there's an off-screen rattling some may find familiar to a snake.]
Easy Stormfly.
[Astrid's own tone drips with wariness, and from the corner of the frame you can see her fist adjusting and clenching against the handle of some sort of weapon. A double sided battle axe to be exact.]
Let me just try to figure out where we are. Or how in Thor's name we got here in the first place...
[Her steps are careful and deliberate, until the Forge lets out an angry buzz of feedback. One of the many skulls adorning her belt had brushed against something on the communication device, and it didn't quite agree with it it seems.
Astrid lets out a yelp of surprise, couple with an alarmed squawk from Stormfly, and wrenches the Forge from it's spot before throwing it away from her. The video feed shakes and spins, but the sight of sharp poisonous spines flying towards it is probably hard to miss.]

video;
[She's only ever seen Toothless, but she's curious to meet more.]
video;
It was. And I won't stop her from turning you into ash if you don't put an end to this... talking back thing.
[Whatever you are.]
video;
You mean the forge? It's just for talking to people...
[Suddenly she pauses, as if realizing something.]
Wait! You're Hiccup's friend, aren't you?
video;
[She pauses, and her eyes narrow even further. Stormfly steps up behind Astrid to look down at the device with one sharp yellow eye, clacking her beak-like jaws in warning.]
And just how do you know Hiccup?
video;
[She shrugs and begins running some of her hair through her hands.]
He's here. Um, in Anatole. We're friends.

Silently dropping down behind the blond girl, he blows hoarfrost over the back of her neck then swerves back to grin, all upside-down. ]
Chilly tonight, huh?
[ action ]
Astrid glances around, her nose wrinkling as she squints. Stormfly inches forward to bump her from behind with her nose and Astrid turns towards the dragon, offering a halfhearted pat on her horn.]
It's alright girl. [Her gaze continues to wander.] I just thought I heard something.
[ action ]
[ Snorting when she fails to see the hand waving in front of her face, the breeze picks up and he glides over her dragon.
A tap from his staff sends ice all over those leathery wings. ]
[ action ]
Hey!
[Her tone is one of surprise and uncertainty, and she rocks from foot to foot, shifting the grip on her axe.]

[video]
A-Astrid? Astrid, your, um, your Forge...accidentally turned itself on.
[video]
[She still holds the Forge close to her face. Uncomfortably close, some may say.]
Where are you?
[video]
[He raises his hands away from his own, attempting to placate her. There's nothing worse than an angry Astrid sometimes. With a small sigh, there's a trill off to his side and Toothless pokes his head into view, giving a happy noise when he recognizes her voice.]
Oh Thor, it really is you...I mean unless the Door's playing tricks on me...but it's that time of the month...
[The last part is muttered to himself and he picks up his Forge, scratching the back of his neck.]
I'm in the city. Where are you?
[video]
Her smile then fades into a grimace, and Astrid huffs, ruffling her bangs with a puff of air.]
Well of course it's me. Who else would it be?
[She pauses, chewing on her lower lip.]
I... I don't know where I am. I couldn't stay in those rooms I woke up in, and Stormfly was waiting for me outside, so I started to walk. I figured we'd make it back to Berk eventually.

[She rolls her eyes a little, though she doubts the owner of the device can and will see her. Seeing as she had chucked the thing and attacked it, she doubts it'll barely work, but she gives it a shot anyway. Lash hasn't really had any experience with these advanced gadgets, but she considers herself a quick learner when it comes to machinery.]
[video]
[The response is short and curt. Astrid isn't one who likes not being on top of things, and right now she isn't feeling very much in control.]
[video]
Me neither! I've never gotten to play with something as advanced as this. [Pause.] You in trouble or something there, blondie?
[video]
[A beat.]
And don't call me blondie. My name is Astrid.
[Said in a tone that suggests you better remember it.]

Oh - are you okay? You're uhm - [it's another frickin dragon with spikes good god] - you're in Anatole.

[Sorry, she's just a little stressed today.]

But wow!
[Cue silver-haired kid with his eyes lit up with wild awe, leaning toward the screen]
What is that, a big lizard, or some kind of dragon? Is it your pet?

Astrid frowns, shaking her head. Although she's already spoken to a handful of people on it, she still doesn't trust the forge.]
She's a dragon. A Deadly Nadder.

Neat. Does it fly?
no subject
[Odin's beard, what rock did you crawl out from under?]
She's nearly the fastest flyer on Berk.
[Spoken with a hint of pride.]
